Discord Confidentially Files for IPO, Bloomberg Reports
Discord has confidentially filed for an IPO, Bloomberg reports, as the company explores a potential listing alongside Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan.
Discord Inc. has confidentially filed paperwork for an initial public offering, according to people familiar with the matter cited by Bloomberg.
The popular chat platform is reportedly working with Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan Chase & Co. on a potential listing. Discussions are ongoing, and the company may ultimately decide not to proceed with an IPO.
Discord declined to comment on the filing. Representatives for the banks also declined to comment.
Founded in 2015, Discord offers voice, text, and video communication and initially gained popularity among gamers before expanding to broader communities, including developers and online groups. The platform had more than 200 million monthly active users by the end of 2025.
The company is backed by several major technology and investment firms, including Tencent Holdings, Sony Group, and Dragoneer Investment Group.
Bloomberg, as well as The New York Times and the Financial Times, previously reported that Discord had explored an IPO as early as 2021, but plans were delayed amid market volatility. According to the Financial Times, improving market conditions in 2025 — including lower interest rates and a more supportive U.S. policy environment for technology companies — may have revived listing discussions.
In a statement, Discord said it remains focused on improving the user experience and building a sustainable business.
